Youtube UIx – Code Name: Cosmic Panda

Shortly before Google announced that Google+, their new social network, was open for public beta; Google’s basic search had begun showing signs of a UI over-haul. Colors were different and the whole look and feel was a lot cleaner and decidedly more modern. Google+ expanded upon the over-all design of the basic search page and their other services slowly began to follow suit. Google Calendar was the next to take on a new design and then Gmail, though you’ll actually need enable Gmail’s new design manually from the themes setting page.

The next service to receive a visual update is Youtube with its experimental “Cosmic Panda” design… which is filled with magic… and pandas… and kitty toast!

If you want to take the new design for a spin, head on over to youtube.com/cosmicpanda. The most obvious changes can be found on the video playback pages so be sure to watch a video once the new design has been enabled. Youtube suggests the Nyan Cat video but that might be a bit too fabulous!! for some.
